Holly Oddly
Central State Hospital, Milledgeville
Less than two hours from my house is what was once the world's largest insane asylum. After Chris and Ramona recovered from COVID, we decided to venture to see the abandoned institution. As someone with a mental illness, this place didn't come with a fascination, but more of a deep sympathy, for the people who had been patients there starting in 1842. The hospital still runs out of a new building now with far fewer than the once 12,000 patients. It was a sprawling campus of over 200 buildings on almost 2,000 acres of property. We poked around the buildings on the main part of the campus.
